12 Aminadav Kanevsky. Gas Station. 1920s
The watercolor on offer is one of the earliest and rare easel works by Aminadav Kanevsky. Done when the artist was still studying at VKhUTEMAS  (VKhUTEIN), the piece obviously bears evidence of a sharp eye and a sure hand of the future master illustrator and cartoonist. A view tinged with irony and attention to detail and every little thing help the artist to convey the character of every figure depicted in this small work and to produce a true image of the times.
