kp119 Alexei Kamensky. Bird in the City. 1978

For more than 50 years now Alexei Kamensky has actively been doing pastels. Used initially in preparatory sketches for paintings, pastels soon occupied a special place among Kamensky’s works. His pastels have striking density and deepness of color. Starting with an impression from nature, Kamensky immerses himself in the process and then follows the logic of the development of the work itself. His works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian Museum, many provincial Russian museums and private collections in 30 countries or so.
